Trust is key to building on the digital health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring it continues to improve equitable access for all, according to a report by the Digital Health Advisory Group for Europe (DHAGE).
HIMSS and the Finnish Ministry for Social Affairs and Health co-hosted the 4th annual DHAGE high-level meeting at HIMSS22 Europe in Helskinki, Finland. The report, produced from the meeting outcomes, details collaborative actions, policy recommendations and suggestions for joint strategic initiatives.
DHAGE continues to put trust as one of the core requirements for moving forward with digital healthcare transformation in Europe. Building and maintaining trust in digital health services fosters long-term positive outcomes for society as a whole, the report said.
The group is calling for the European Health Data Space (EHDS) to be supported by wider initiatives. This would help build and maintain trust in robust governance and quality of data in the EHDS. DHAGE is also urging international and European collaboration to ensure emerging digital therapeutics are accepted and used by professionals and bring true benefits for patients. Success also hinges on changing the attitudes and environments to support frank discussions about failures and lessons learned in order to avoid the same failures in the future.
