HIMSS Telehealth Community Evolves into the HIMSS Virtual Care Community

As healthcare technology continues to advance, the HIMSS Telehealth community is evolving to better reflect the expanding landscape of virtual health. To reflect the expanding role of remote and technology-enabled healthcare services, the HIMSS Telehealth Community is now the HIMSS Virtual Care Community. This change aligns with the broader scope of virtual healthcare solutions and ensures the community remains at the forefront of innovation and best practices in digital health. 

Originally established to create a unified voice for telehealth across all healthcare fields, the HIMSS Telehealth Community played a critical role in supporting and promoting the importance of remote healthcare services.  

With the rapid evolution of technology and the increasing integration of virtual solutions across healthcare, the community and its leadership recognized the need to broaden their focus. The transition to the HIMSS Virtual Care Community reflects this shift, encompassing a more comprehensive range of virtual healthcare services and emerging technologies. 

The HIMSS Virtual Care Community will continue to serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration but with an expanded scope. The community will address key topics including remote care solutions, virtual coaching and assistance, virtual hospital-at-home models and the integration of emerging technologies.

The HIMSS Virtual Care Community will host an interactive session focusing on user experience in virtual care at the upcoming HIMSS Global Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas in March. Community leaders will also present the white paper “Enhancing Patient Experience in Virtual Care: Leveraging Technology for Superior Care”, developed by the HIMSS Virtual Care Committee.
