New Name, Same TIGER Spirit: Technology Informatics for Global Education and Readiness

The HIMSS TIGER Global Community, formerly the Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform Interprofessional Community and the TIGER International Taskforce, was relaunched in 2024 as the Technology Informatics for Global Education and Readiness (TIGER) Global Community. The relaunched community intends to bring together informatics professionals interested in enhancing global health by providing interprofessional health informatics subject matter expertise and thought leadership to support the HIMSS mission and vision and the work of HIMSS Communities.

The incorporation of the terms "Readiness" and "Global" effectively aligns with the aim of the HIMSS TIGER Community's reimagined objectives: to provide valuable content, insights and evidence-based materials designed to equip the workforce to thrive in today's fast-paced healthcare industry worldwide.

The new goals of the HIMSS TIGER Global Community include:

• Active engagement in the TIGER community to provide insights from community members' geographic and academic environments
• Members serving as SMEs in interprofessional health informatics and contribute to the informatics knowledgebase by providing insights to HIMSS committees and communities to align and support their efforts
• Collective creation and dissemination of academic, evidence-based, and topic-specific material to support the HIMSS committees and communities.

The HIMSS TIGER Community’s exciting evolution includes establishing a new community structure including the pivotal HIMSS TIGER Global Committee Liaison role. These community leaders are integrated into several HIMSS committees and connected to Professional Development to advance informatics education throughout HIMSS communities.
